The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bendparksandrec.org\/park\/discovery-park\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Discovery Park Community Garden<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has raised bed garden plots available for rent for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the 2023 Season. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every year, newly available 4\u2019 x 10\u2019 raised bed garden plots are offered to the public and are awarded via a lottery drawing among all applications received by the announced cutoff. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each bed has micro sprayers controlled automatically and adjusted continually throughout the season to compensate for weather. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Opening Day in early April is a day to get garden common areas ready for the season, get started preparing the raised bed for planting, and for new gardeners to get a general orientation of the garden.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Discovery Park Community Garden provides a gardening opportunity for people with limited space to grow their own flowers and vegetables and to be a part of the gardening community. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The community garden at Northwest Crossing\u2019s Discovery Park became a Bend Park and Recreation property in 2019 and is supported by the Oregon State University Extension Service and the OSU Master Gardeners. With this partnership, the garden is offered personalized support including a variety of classes at the 51-bed garden throughout the growing season. The Master Gardeners are available to assist gardeners with tips and tricks on gardening in the Central Oregon environment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lottery is now open with an application deadline of April 1st. To participate in the lottery, send an email to <strong>discovery@gocomga.com<\/strong>. Please include your contact information: full name, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">phone number and preferred email address, and type \u201cDPCG\u201d in the subject line of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">email. If selected, the garden bed rental fee for the season is $35.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The drawing will take place on April 2nd and results will be communicated to applicants via email. Additional information about the garden will be provided as applications are received.
