The Grout Company is a full-service general contractor specializing in both new construction and remodeling. Owner Randy Grout, with a combined degree in architecture and business from the University of Oregon, oversees all aspects of the company. He started his building career in Central Oregon in the 1970s with his first builds in Bend and Black Butte Ranch. He is also an original Guild Builder with Bend’s award-winning Northwest Crossing neighborhood. With offices in both Portland Bend, The Grout Company has been in business for over 43 years.
“Green Building” is a relatively new term, but The Grout Company has been involved in recycling and utilized green building techniques since its inception. All homes built by The Grout Company are constructed to Earth Advantage standards which include increased insulation levels, material recycling, energy efficient windows and doors, high efficiency heating and ventilation systems, advanced sealing and moisture abatement techniques, recycling of materials, low voc paints and finishes, energy efficient lighting and appliances, and utilizing low impact materials. Significant effort is continuously made to use the most energy efficient and sustainable products and techniques in all projects.
Customer service, quality, integrity and attention to detail are cornerstones of our company philosophy. We have our own home designs which can modify to satisfy our clients needs or are happy to work with our client’s architect or designer.
On a personal note, Randy and his wife Janis live in Bend and their two grown daughters, Ingrid and Liv, and their husbands live in Leeds, England and Big Sky, Montana respectively. An avid skier, Randy has volunteered for many years as an official for high school ski races at Mt. Bachelor. He also spends time hunting and on the water fly fishing and whitewater rafting.
