Construction History

I have been involved in the building industry for the better part of 40 years in one way or the other.

I was born the son of a general contractor. My father still owns and operates Emick Construction, developing and building custom homes in my hometown of Prosser, Washington. My brother and I were raised on construction sites and started helping my dad by picking up construction debris before we were in preschool. By the time I was a young teenager I was a competent framer and concrete finisher. I went to work for a commercial contractor in Portland when I was seventeen working as a framer on schools, retail stores and HUD housing. After turning eighteen, I partnered with my father to form a professional framing company. Three years later, my father and I returned to our hometown in Washington State to build custom and spec homes on the site of the farm where I was raised. We built two to four homes a year for the next six years until I moved to Bend in the fall of 1998. After moving to Bend I started my own framing and general contracting business. During this time Third Generation Construction built in the Awbrey Village, Awbrey Butte, Eagle Crest and Camden Park subdivisions. In 2009 I took a break from the construction business to pursue my educational goal which resulted in my earning a BS in nursing. I worked as a Registered Nurse until my friend and mentor Dennis Szigeti of Leader Builders talked me into returning to construction as his Project Manager in 2017. I worked with Leader Builders for two years on many beautiful high-quality homes in the Bend area. In January of 2019, my wife and I decided to jump back into the custom/spec home building business.

Third Generation Construction is a reference to my five sons. I named the company when my oldest son was three years old. I chose it to honor my children as well as for my father as his original business was named Emick and Sons.

Strengths

I bring my personal integrity, hard work and team building to every project I am blessed to participate in.

My plan is to build two to three custom or spec homes per year. If my schedule allows, I intend to continue to build like I always have, completing a considerable portion of the construction myself with the assistance of an employee or two. I will rely on the highest quality subcontractors to complete the parts of the projects that I am not able to do myself.
