Cozy outings, local finds, and easy ways to show a friend around Bend.
When a friend is new to Bend, you don’t need a packed itinerary to help them feel at home. A warm drink, a stroll downtown, and something fun to look forward to can make a chilly November day feel a little cozier. Here are a few places I’d take them this month!
Start with a cozy Discovery West morning
First, I’d introduce my friend to Discovery West itself. We’d pick up coffee and sweet treat at Sparrow Mercado, wander around Discovery Corner, and take a stroll through the Discovery Trail. It’s a simple way to share some of the neighborhood places and open spaces that make Discovery West feel welcoming.
Head downtown for the art walk
On Friday, November 6, head downtown for First Friday, themed “Grateful for Downtown.” From 5–8 p.m., you can wander between participating shops and restaurants, discover local art, and make an evening of browsing, sipping, or grabbing dinner. It’s an easy way to introduce a friend to downtown while supporting the local businesses!
Sip and unwind at Put A Cork In It
For a relaxed evening close to home, Put A Cork In It has a few November wine events on the calendar. Stop by for a Dominio IV wine tasting on November 20 or 21, from 3–9 p.m. Then, on November 30, join Meet Your Wine Match – Red Wines by Curious Vine Collective. It’s a lovely way to introduce a friend to one of Discovery Corner’s coziest neighborhood spots and enjoy an evening together.
Browse a holiday market
If your friend loves handmade finds, make time for the UPP Liquids Holiday Market on November 14–15. The market plans to bring together more than 20 local vendors, live music, and holiday shopping. The perfect activity for picking up a thoughtful gift or simply exploring the shops with a friend.
For another market outing, the 4th Annual Holiday Spirit Market is happening Saturday, November 28, from 11:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. at Groove Yoga. It’s free to attend, with local makers offering everything from candles and art to treats, coffee, and specialty teas.
Make it a gals evening downtown
For a friends’ night out, put Downtown Bend Ladies Night on the calendar for Thursday, November 19, from 4–8 p.m. Shop, sip, snack, and explore downtown together. It’s a fun excuse to get out of the house and show a new friend some of the independent shops and restaurants around town.
The best Bend introduction doesn’t have to be elaborate. Pick an event, wear your coziest layers, and leave room for a coffee stop or an unplanned wander. Sometimes the easiest way to make a new place feel like home is to explore it together.
