Skipper, the Discovery West spokesdog who was born on Valentine’s Day, knows there’s lots to love about living in Discovery West. One of his top recommendations is staying close to home to enjoy a romantic Valentine’s Day date! Here’s his list of restaurants and bars for an enjoyable outing, right nearby!
The NorthWest Crossing neighborhood, with its fabulous restaurant options, is just half a mile from Discovery West. This means that even if there’s snow on the ground, it’s a great place to dine and celebrate with the one you love. It’s so close you can even snowshoe or walk to restaurants and bars at The Grove and throughout the neighborhood, if you’re feeling adventurous!
Skipper recommends Waypoint to start your evening. It’s a brewery and cocktail bar, with a fantastic happy hour featuring creative cocktails and craft beer.Right outside Waypoint’s door, in the Grove Market Hall, you’ll find an array of delicious options from Sebastian’s Seafood to Shimshon Bend, ThAiPAS, Jackson’s Corner, to Pho Viet & Cafe. And don’t forget to treat your sweetie (and yourself!) to a delicious Elly’s Ice Cream at the end of the night!
Just adjacent to The Grove is Rancher Butcher Chef Steakhouse, known by locals as RBC. (Skipper asks that you be sure to ask for a doggiedoogie bag to treat your pup to leftovers of some of the best steaks in town when you get home from your date!)
Anyone who’s been in Bend a while will know that we’re lucky to have one of the top Mexican restaurants right across the roundabout from The Grove: La Rosa, a Modern Mexican Kitchen. Awarded Bend’s Best Margarita 9 years and Bend’s Best Mexican Restaurant 8 years, this is one spot you’ll want to consider reserving early!
Another long-time Bend favorite is just across the street from La Rosa: Portello Wine & Spirits. At this romantic eatery, you can enjoy an extensive selection of wines, crafted cocktails and tasty bites, before heading back to Discovery West, just a one-minute drive from this and Skipper’s other favorite neighborhood date spots!
