#5: Constellation Box 1

Play Audio

Constellations on this box are located in the northern celestial hemisphere. Ursa Major, meaning “Great Bear,” is one of the most recognizable constellations in the night sky. It includes the famous Big Dipper, making it easy to spot and guide to find nearby constellations, including Ursa Minor and Draco. Ursa Major is visible in Bend throughout the year, but the best time to view it is in the spring, especially March through May, when the constellation is high in the sky. To spot even the faintest of stars, wait for a new moon with clear skies.
