As Spring (slowly) approaches, we naturally turn our thoughts to planting a garden! Just steps away from Discovery West is the beautiful Discovery Park Community Garden. It is located on Discovery Park Drive, near the dog park. This garden offers 4’x10’ raised beds available for rent for $35 for the 2024 Season. Each bed has micro sprayers controlled automatically and adjusted continually throughout the season to compensate for weather. The garden is managed by OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers with support from Bend Park & Recreation District.
New gardeners will be allocated available beds through a lottery system, which is currently accepting applications until March 30th.
To participate in the lottery, send an email to [email protected] and type “DPCG” in the subject line of the email. Please include your contact information: full name, phone number and preferred email address. Returning gardeners in good standing will keep the plots they rented the previous year. The drawing will take place on March 31, and results will be communicated to applicants via email. Lottery winners will receive their raised bed assignments with the completion of registration. Remaining lottery applicants will be placed on a waiting list and notified by email of their status on the list.
OSU Master Gardener Volunteers are available to be a gardening resource and to assist gardeners. In addition, gardening classes are held throughout the growing season. See the Central Oregon Master Gardener Association website for information and the schedule for 2024.
