We’re lucky to be close-by to a thriving business and retail district, just a few steps away in NorthWest Crossing. With a high percentage of pet owners in Bend, Oregon, and many in Discovery West, it’s no surprise that there are some pet-oriented businesses and pet-friendly places to visit nearby. From a popular dog park to retail and veterinary services, you don’t have to go far to find what you need for your furry friend.
Here are a few of the pet-oriented places that make their homes in our backyard:
- Ruffwear – The crown jewel of Bend’s pet product scene, this global company makes its headquarters in NorthWest Crossing. Founded in order to inspire dog and human connections in the outdoors, Ruffwear offers a range of outdoor gear for your pooch, from life jackets to collapsible water bowls and everything in between. If you’re looking to deck your best friend out in the best gear for your next adventure, you can visit their retail store on Lolo Drive.
- Colorado Cat Clinic – If you’re more of a feline fan, you can ensure the best care for your kitty at a vet that solely specializes in their care. Founded in 1997 by Dr. Kirsten Munck, and originally located on Colorado Avenue (thus the name), the clinic is focused on the unique requirements of every cat, providing services including geriatric care, internal medicine, dentistry and nutrition.
- Discovery Park Dog Park – We are lucky to have the 25+ acre Discovery Park shared between our two neighborhoods, and right below Discovery West is the park’s popular fenced, off-leash dog play area. You can look down on it from the trails around our neighborhood and see all the cute pups frolicking, and head on down with your own buddy for a some shenanigans.
- Veterinary Referral Center – While not exactly next door, this valuable clinic is right down the street and serves a valuable purpose for Bend pet owners. A group of board-certified veterinarians provide advanced emergency and specialized care for pets, based on advanced training in areas like dermatology, surgery, internal medicine, cancer therapy and emergency medicine.
- Bend Pet Express – This full-service retail shop is up the road on Century Drive, and is a Bend staple for all your pet product needs. They offer full lines of the best pet foods, both shelf-stable and frozen, plus gear, treats, toys, beds and more. Serving our community for decades, they offer free delivery within 500 miles of Bend. So it’s really like having them right next door, after all.
