While April 22 is the official date of Earth Day, at Discovery West, every day is Earth Day! The Discovery West team – from its development partners to its guild builders to its homeowners – all share a commitment to the green building standards established by Earth Advantage. These principles are at the heart of the neighborhood, and serve as the foundation upon which each home is built. Here’s a look at what that means and why we celebrate Mother Earth year-round!
All homes in Discovery West are built to Earth Advantage standards, which ensures energy efficiency and the use of sustainable building materials and practices. Our team of guild builders all build to Earth Advantage standards, which means their homes have met benchmarks in areas such as energy, health, land, materials and water. Quality assurance inspections are conducted throughout the construction process by accredited building scientists. All of this translates to homes that help homeowners save on energy and water consumption, while they can enjoy better indoor air quality and an overall sense of wellbeing in their homes.
Earlier this year, Brooks Resources, one of our development partners, was honored with the Earth Advantage Hall of Fame Award for its 20+ year history of supporting the construction of sustainable homes in Central Oregon, including in Discovery West, NorthWest Crossing and others. In regards to receiving the award, Brooks Resources President and CEO, Kirk Schueler, said, “Earth Advantage aligns with our values, and provides a robust framework for anyone dedicated to building homes that are healthy and energy efficient.”
