Master Plan Approval & Update

We have exciting news! Last week, the Bend City Council conducted their second reading of the Discovery West master plan and annexation plan and unanimously approved them both. This event completes the long land use process that began over two years ago with the Westside Infrastructure Group Development Agreement discussions between the developers of Discovery West and other westside land owners. The development agreement, which addressed infrastructure plans for transportation, water and sewer on the westside, was approved by the City of Bend in October of last year, paving the way for the master plan application submission in late 2018. It was the first master plan application in the City’s Urban Growth Boundary expansion area and it was recommended for approval by City staff as well as the City’s Planning Commission.

Following a 30-day waiting period for enactment of the ordinances, the Discovery West master plan will officially have the green light. Meanwhile, we have submitted our Tentative and Engineering Plans for phases 1, 2 and 3. Assuming positive approvals, we anticipate the start of construction on infrastructure for Phase 1 in or around August of this year and concluding by year’s end, weather permitting. Sales plans will be announced later this year, but we foresee using a Builders’ Guild model, similar to what we have implemented in NorthWest Crossing. Builders will begin building homes early next year which will become available to the public by late summer or fall 2020. To stay up to date on our progress and announcements, please join our list.
