Mother’s Day Adventures with Skipper: Brunch, Blooms, and Wag-Worthy Walks

I’m Skipper, your trusty Discovery West spokesdog, here to ensure that you and Mom have a very happy Mother’s Day! Read on for my pawsome recommendations on the best places to have brunch, followed by my favorite places to take Mom and your furry friend to hike among wildflowers close to home!

First Stop: Brunch

If there’s one thing I know (besides the best places to bury bones), it’s where to find a top-notch brunch! Here are my top picks:

Washington Dining & Cocktails – Right nearby in NorthWest Crossing, this local fav has great food and a sunny patio for mom and her pawsome pup!

The Lemon Tree – Cozy, charming, and bursting with flavors from around the world. I’ve heard the lemon ricotta pancakes are a human favorite!

Chow – A Bend staple serving farm-fresh deliciousness. Plus, they welcome pups on the patio!

McKay Cottage – Historic vibes, homemade scones, and plenty of outdoor seating for a sunny spring morning.

Next Up: A Walk Among the Wildflowers

After brunch, let’s stretch our legs and soak up some spring magic! These trails are blooming with color and are perfect for a post-meal stroll:

Discovery Park Trails Right in the neighborhood, check out the new labyrinth and other art installations along the trails.

Shevlin Park – This one’s a classic! Tumalo Creek winds through lush forested meadows, and the wildflowers are starting to pop.

Deschutes River Trail – Gorgeous water views and bursts of lupine, balsamroot, and paintbrush along the way.

Broken Top Trail to No Name Lake – A bit of a trek, but WOW—this alpine meadow is a wildflower wonderland!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there—two-legged and four-legged alike! Grab a leash and if you see me on the trails, don’t forget to say hi!
